Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. In MS, the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibers (myelin), causing inflammation and damage. This disrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, difficulty walking, numbness, and vision problems. MS symptoms vary widely and can worsen over time. While there is no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms, slow disease progression, and improve quality of life.
