Dear Friends of ROSC,
Thanks to about 240 of you, ROSC has received about $15,500 so far during 2007 toward our goal of $25,000. We still welcome donations or a sign of life for 2007, and, for those who need it, those donations are tax deductible. If you haven't yet donationed in 2007, you will receive an indication of that as part of this report. All donations make a real difference, whether $3 or $3,000.
Besides your individual support, which is what REALLY keeps us going, ROSC was awarded a grant from the Funding Exchange for general support. We also welcome donations of stock and of property such as vehicles (which are given to activists who need one for their work).
ROSC has a new mailing address, our street address of 161 Stovepipe Alley, Monroe, ME 04951. We also have a new email: rosc@psouth.net.
Welcome to new people on our mailing list. We hope you will support ROSC and become involved in our work.
Larry Dansinger
ROSC board members: Norm Meldrum, Jim Loomis, Hillary Lister, Annie Lunt, Claire Gélinas, and jesse leah vear. Other staff are Karen Tucker and Sue Rudalevige (AVP), Rob Pfeiffer (MDMC), and Norm Meldrum, Sharon Wachsler, & Chris Kuell (AbilityMaine).
What's New?
If we don't like large, multinational corporations dominating our economy, what else is there? Actually, an option that exists in Maine but only on a small scale are cooperatives, and ROSC has helped to bring together a group, called Cooperative Maine, to support existing coopertive ventures in Maine and to promote new ones. A diverse (both geographically and different kinds of cooperatives) met in late March and meets again in late June to begin working on supporting Maine's fledgeling co-op movement. Contact Larry for details.
Larry also worked with advocates of nonviolent action throughout New England to bring about 20 people from every NE state together to begin developing a way to do strategic planning using active nonviolence to address issues such as US foreign policy (Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, etc.), our loss of civil rights and liberties, treatment of various ethnic and racial groups in this country, and our obsession with a so-called "war on terror." Larry hopes to work on developing strategic plans with Maine activists in July and August. If you are interested in doing with for your group, contact Larry.
